Sneek & Sküell

Plates 9 Page 31 Sneek             Plates 10 Page 32 Sküell

Two of the most evil-hearted villains you are likely to come across in the Labyrinth, Sneek and Sküell, lived as bandits for many years on the edge of the Great Howling Gulf. Why they chose this particular spot, where hardly any goblins ever venture, is uncertain, but they were both notorious for what they would have done if there had been anyone to do it to. For example, it is rumoured that Sneek would have disguised himself as an easygoing polo player, who would challenge innocent passers-by to a game of polo almost certainly would always end in his winning. Sküell (see art on following page), on the other hand, would have lain in wait for travellers and wandering folk, and then waited for them to have a picnic, and as soon as they'd eaten and drunk too much (which goblins always do) he would have leapt out on them and stolen their toothpicks! As I say, they are a black-hearted pair.
Their careers of putative outrage and evil were eventually brought to an end by the great goblin detective Dogsthorpe (see plate 35).
